WASHINGTON, D.C.— Former Duke University All-America Tricia Liston along with the 2015 WNBA Champion Minnesota Lynx were honored at the White House by President Barack Obama Monday in the East Room.
The Lynx were coming off capturing their third WNBA championship over the last five seasons this past October. It marked the third time Minnesota has met Obama as the squad also made visits to the White House in 2012 and 2014.
Liston joined Mistie Bass (2014) and Karima Christmas (2012) as Blue Devils who have won a WNBA Championships. Duke alumnae have claimed WNBA titles in in three out of the last four seasons.
A native of River Forest, Ill., Liston appeared in 31 games on the season, including two starts. She averaged 3.4 points a contest and ranked second in the WNBA with a 42.9 three-point field goal percentage. She hit 27-of-63 treys on the season and has drained 41 three-pointers in two years in the league.
Liston was a 2014 Associated Press Third Team All-America as a senior at Duke as she drained a school-record 87 three-pointers in her final year with the Blue Devils. She finished her career at Duke with a school-record 252 three-pointers made, while scoring a total of 1,664 points to rank eighth all time.
