Field Hockey Opens Exhibition Action

DURHAM, N.C. - The 2016 Blue Devils took to the turf against another team for the first time Monday, hosting in-state opponent Davidson in exhibition action at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.

Duke welcomed the Wildcats for three 25-minute periods of scrimmage play followed by two rounds of shootouts. Eleven different Blue Devils recorded goals in a well-balanced offensive effort in regulation, while senior Kelsey Wagner and sophomore Sammi Steele split time in the cage.

The Blue Devils resume preseason training this week before hosting North Carolina in a final exhibition match Saturday at 12 p.m. in Durham. The program then kicks off the season Friday, Aug. 26 in a 6 p.m. matchup against William & Mary at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.
