DURHAM, N.C.—Members of the Duke men's soccer team took a couple hours out of their day today to spend time with students at Cresset Christian Academy in Durham. The Blue Devils read books, answered questions from students and spent time with them in their classrooms.
Duke director of operations Sonny Mukungu and a collection of 10 Blue Devils at the school following Monday's training session. The kids were treated to story time with freshmen CC Uche and Max Feldman as well as with senior Jimmy Doll. The kids also got opportunities to share stories and ask questions to Blue Devils like Markus Fjørtoft and Brody Huitema.
The visit to Cresset Christian Academy is one of various community service activities the Blue Devils do during the academic year. Duke has worked with at the Urban Ministries of Durham in preparing meals on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and has worked with kids in schools stressing the importance of doing well in school as well as getting outside and playing sports.
Duke is 2-1-1 overall and 0-1-0 against ACC foes this season. The Blue Devils resume ACC play Friday, Sept. 16 against No. 21 Wake Forest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., on ACC Network Extra.
