DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University head coach
Dan Brooks and the 2016-17 Blue Devil women's golf team is set to open the regular season Sept. 25-27 at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which will be played at the Reunion Resort.
The tournament will showcase 12 of the top golf programs in the nation – UCLA, Southern California, Duke, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Arizona, Arkansas, Virginia, South Carolina and Central Florida. It will feature 18 holes each day for a total of 54 holes.
Brooks, who enters his 33rd year at the helm of the Duke women's golf program, returns two-time All-America
Leona Maguire, reigning NCAA Champion
Virginia Elena Carta, two-time All-ACC selection
Sandy Choi and junior
Gurbani Singh as starters from last season's squad. The Blue Devils will also return junior
Lisa Maguire and welcome in
Ana Belac from Slovenia to the mix.
Duke has been preseason ranked No. 5 nationally by Golfweek, which marks the 14th time since 1999-2000 that the Blue Devils have been preseason ranked in the top five nationally.
The Blue Devils will feature a lineup of
Leona Maguire,
Lisa Maguire, Choi, Carta and Singh in Orlando, Fla.
Duke is coming off back-to-back semifinal appearances in the match play portion of the NCAA Championship. The Blue Devils have won six NCAA Championships since 1999 under Brooks.
