DURHAM, N.C. – Following the conclusion of final exams, Duke returns to action with a pair of midweek contests. The Blue Devils welcome Campbell to Jack Coombs Field at 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 9 before making the trek to Greenville, N.C., for a 6:30 p.m., first pitch against East Carolina.
Duke (23-23, 9-15 ACC) returns to game action for the first time since April 29 at Notre Dame, while Campbell (21-25, 7-11 Big South) comes off a series loss at Liberty and East Carolina (24-24, 4-14 AAC) most recently suffered a sweep at USF this past weekend.
Both games mark the conclusion of 2017 home-and-home series against in-state opponents. The Blue Devils and the Camels meet a second time Tuesday after Duke posted a come-from-behind 12-10 victory in Buies Creek, N.C., thanks to a pair of Griffin Conine homers. Duke then looks to avenge a March 14 home loss to ECU. The Blue Devils led 3-0 early before a late Pirate rally sent East Carolina to a 9-4 victory.
Duke holds a 19-16 advantage over Campbell in the all-time series. The Camels have won four of the two teams' past six meetings. A season ago, Duke and Campbell split a home-and-home series as each team defended its home field.
The Blue Devils look to end a 15-game losing streak to East Carolina Wednesday. The 2017 campaign marks the first season Duke and ECU meet in a home-and-home series since 2002.
Duke remains at home for an ACC series against Georgia Tech Friday-Sunday, May 12-14 at Jack Coombs Field.
