SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Katelyn Gochenour competed in the USA Track & Field (USATF) Junior Championships today in Sacramento, Calif., and advanced to the Pan American Junior Championships in July.
Gochenour registered a mark of 158-10 (48.43) to finish second to qualify for the Pan Am Junior meet. Gochenour will compete in Lima, Peru on July 21-23.
The Logan, Ia., native capped her first collegiate season with a school-record toss of 178-0 (54.26) to finish sixth in the women's javelin competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier in June.
The first team All-America honoree had previously taken the bronze medal at the ACC Outdoor Championships and set a school record in the women's javelin throw three times this season.
