DURHAM, N.C. – Recent Duke University graduate Sandy Choi along with freshman Hannah O'Sullivan are set to kick off the 115th North & South Women's Amateur Championship that will take place July 10-14 at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, N.C.
The tournament will feature two rounds of stroke play followed by five rounds of match play to determine the champion. The field includes 90 golfers, before being cut to 32 players for match play. Stroke play action will take place Monday and Tuesday followed by round of 32 and 16 of match play on Wednesday. The quarterfinals, semifinals and 18-hole final will take place over Wednesday through Friday.
Choi, a native of Seoul, South Korea, collected a 74.25 stroke average as a senior with the Blue Devils, while helping lead Duke to the ACC Championship. A three-time All-ACC selection, Choi was a member of the 2014 NCAA Championship squad.
A freshman with the Blue Devils, O'Sullivan already has a stellar resume prior to kicking off her collegiate career at Duke. In 2015, she claimed the 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship and the 2015 LPGA Symetra Tour Gateway Classic. O'Sullivan was the No. 1 ranked amateur golfer in the world for a span of almost three months in 2016.
