DURHAM, N.C. – Playing for Duke isn't just showing up every day. It's a mindset that is captured in everything we do. It's personified in the way we play the game. This series will show you, rather than tell you, what it means to be part of this program. At the end of each video, you should walk away with one prominent thought: That's Duke Basketball.
The No. 12 Blue Devils were in search a statement ACC win, but it would not come easy against a fiery Virginia team who was just two spots behind in the national polls and boasted one of the country's best defenses.
Freshman Jayson Tatum did not seem shaken, scoring 21 second-half points en route to posting a career-high 28. A substantial amount of those points—18 to be exact—were notched from behind the arc, as the forward shot a near-perfect 6-7 from downtown, stunning a packed John Paul Jones Arena.
Duke would go on to win by a score of 65-55, securing their sixth consecutive win in conference play.
