Dorsey Nominated For Senior CLASS Award Duke-Pitt Recap Duke-Notre Dame Recap 2017 NCAA Stats 2017 Season Stats

DURHAM, N.C. – What has already been a historic 2017 season marches on this weekend, as the fourth-ranked Duke Blue Devils (10-1-0, 3-0-0 ACC) take a 10-match winning streak on the road to face the Louisville Cardinals. As the Blue Devils get ready to keep their perfect conference record going, it's time to take a look back at last week and the 2017 season as a whole with the seventh edition of the 2017 DWS Weekly Notebook.

Looking Back…
The Blue Devils made history last week, starting with a 3-0 victory at No. 18 Notre Dame to set the school record for consecutive wins with nine straight. They would up that record to 10-straight victories the following Sunday when they defeated Pitt at home to the tune of 2-0.

An own goal on the Irish was the difference Thursday night, with Imani Dorsey and Malinda Allen tacking on the other two scores. Ashton Miller had the game-winning score Sunday afternoon, with Kayla McCoy adding the day's second and final goal.

Looking For Win And Goal No. 1 Against Cardinals…
When Duke and Louisville take the field Friday night they will both be looking to end a scoring and winning drought since they first met in 2006. Neither side has managed to score a goal in four total meetings, leading to four-straight ties. The two sides have met the last three years, twice in Durham and once in Louisville. Both sides will be hoping the fifth time is a charm when it comes to that elusive first goal and win.

Just Keep Winning, Just Keep Winning…
With Thursday night's 3-0 victory in South Bend, the 2017 edition of Duke women's soccer set the school record for consecutive wins with nine straight. They then extended the streak to 10-straight matches with a 2-0 shutout of Pitt at Koskinen on Sunday. During the streak, Duke has defeated three ranked opponents, shut out seven foes and went 2-0 at its home tournament for the first time since 2012.

Shutting It Down In September…
To say that the Blue Devils have enjoyed the month of September would be a bit of an understatement. Duke is 7-0 in the month, including wins against three ranked opponents (4-0 at No. 3 WVU; 2-1 vs. No. 21 Utah; 3-0 at No. 18 Notre Dame). Church's squad has also been lights out on defense in that stretch, outscoring opponents 17-1 and shutting out six opponents, with five of those coming from senior EJ Proctor.

Hot Start To ACC Play…
The Blue Devils have not just won 10-straight games, they've also started a perfect 3-0 in conference play, defeating Virginia Tech, No. 18 Notre Dame and Pitt. The Blue Devils are off to their best start in league play since the 2011 season when they made one of their three NCAA Finalist showings in school history.

To go along with the three wins has been the continued trend of Duke's stifling defense. The Blue Devils have shut out each their first three ACC foes, marking the first time in history that Duke has started ACC play with three-straight clean sheets.

Top Five, No Debating…
Duke's hot streak has caught the nation's attention, as it went soaring up the polls last week. After jumping seven spots to No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 two weeks ago, the Blue Devils held strong at fourth in the rankings.

The Blue Devils also stayed at No. 5 in the latest Soccer America poll, while coming in at No. 4 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com rankings.

Blue Devils In The RPI…
The first official NCAA women's soccer RPI was released last week, with Duke opening the year at No. 6. That is the highest Duke has opened in the RPI since starting out at No. 3 in the first rankings of 2011.

Duke stayed put at No. 6 in the last batch of RPI rankings, released this Monday. Duke's Friday night foe, Louisville, enters the weekend ranked 88th.

Dorsey A Senior CLASS Nominee…
Friday afternoon Duke senior Imani Dorsey was selected as one of 30 nominees for the prestigious Senior CLASS award. The list will be cut down to 10 later in the season, with the winner announced in December at the NCAA College Cup.
