DURHAM, N.C. - The season officially opened for the 21st-ranked Blue Devils on the road at Northwestern with a 26-point loss deficit. The Blue Devils struggled in their debut game, but talent on the team is promising as Duke continues on the road later this week. But before Duke continues onto the second week of the regular season, it's time to check the team's blueprints.
November 11th- WBB Veterans Day Flash Sale
- $11.11 ticket to Duke vs South Carolina – Duke Women's Basketball will match the total number of tickets sold to provide free tickets to North Carolina Veterans and their families. The sale runs 11/11 – 11/13.

The 21st-ranked Blue Devils fell on the road at Northwestern, 84-58, for the 2018-2019 season opener. Junior Leaonna Odom led Duke on the court, opening up her season debut with the team's first double-double. Odom had 14 points and a career-high 14 boards. In her Duke debut, freshman Rayah Craig played 20 minutes and had 13 points. The Blue Devils had trouble from beyond the arc, shooting just 18.8 percent, and had trouble controlling the ball with 24 turnovers.

Introducing the Team Captains
Head coach Joanne P. McCallie announced the team captain's for upcoming 2018-2019 season. Redshirt juniors Haley Gorecki and Kyra Lambert, senior Faith Suggs, and redshirt senior Sofia Roma. Lambert will be the only returning captain for the team.

Leaonna Odom Named to Wooden Award List
Leaonna Odom is one of 30 selected for the watch list for the John R. Wooden award presented by Wendy's. This is Odom's second watch-list nomination this preseason.

Hernando Planells to Coach New Zealand U17 Team
The associate head coach for the Blue Devils was one of two coaches in the United States named the head coach for the New Zealand U17 Team. Planells' first appearance with the team with be at the 2019 Oceania Championships in New Caledonia in August 2019.

Brown and Mathias Sending Overseas Messages to the Blue Devils
Only one year removed from there days as Blue Devils, Lexie Brown and Erin Mathias are sending their best wishes to the Duke women's team as they started the season this past Sunday. Brown is currently settled in Hungary playing for Gyor, and Mathis is in Italy playing for Empoli. Other former Blue Devils that sent messages of encouragement included Elizabeth Williams, Jasmine Thomas, Jenna Frush, Karima Christmas, Krystal Thomas, and Ka'lia Johnson.

Chelsea Gray Partnering with Elite Skills Training Sessions
The WNBA star has partnered with George Quintero and Elite Skills to help run Pro Skills training sessions throughout the month of November. Gray will be essential in providing insight into the professional game along with teaching necessary skills to succeed in the game.

Jasmine Thomas, '11
Thomas and Polkowice hosted Belgium's Braine in EuroLeague Women play. Polkowice won 71-52 and Thomas had six points in 29 minutes.
Haley Peters, '14
Peters and Charleville hosted Hatay of Turkey in EuroLeague play, and took the win 90-79. Peters had 15 points in 25 minutes.
Angela Salvadores
Her Sopron team traveled to Turkey for Euroleague plays and left with a one possession loss to Fenerbahce. Salvadores had nine points in 17 minutes.
Chloe Wells, '14
Wells and Nymburk took to play in Hungary for a EuroCup Women game. The team lost to Szekszard 72-65, but Wells excelled with 20 points and six minutes in her 37 minutes of play. Nymburk also played in a domestic league matchup versus Strakonice, and won 71-53. Wells played 13 minutes and scored four points.
Lexie Brown, 18
Brown and her Nymburk squad went to Spain for a EuroCup Women matchup against Uni Girona. The team fell 78-58, and Brown had seven points in 29 minutes.
Elizabeth Williams, '15
The Botas squad picked up a EuroCup Women win against Beroe in Bulgaria. In the 98-51 victory, Williams had 15 points and seven boards in 24 minutes.
