TAMARAC, Fla. — Duke University signee Megan Furtney will see action in one final tournament before ringing in 2019 as she will compete in the Dixie Amateur from Dec. 18-21 at the Woodlands Country Club West in Tamarac, Fla.
Furtney, who signed with the Blue Devils in November, will be one of 104 competitors at the amateur that originated in 1924. The tournament will
A three-time medalist on the AJGA, Furtney features a very accomplished amateur career. She collected six top 11 placements on the AJGA in 2018, including eight rounds in the 60s. Over the last five years, Furtney has registered 15 top 10 finishes on the AJGA and 22 top 20 placements. Her two victories in 2018 came in back-to-back tournaments as she turned in four rounds in the 60s. Furtney is currently ranked No. 14 in the latest AJGA and No. 20 in the Golfweek class of 2019 rankings.
A native of St. Charles, Ill., Furtney will open action Dec. 18 at 7:39 a.m., along with Fiona Liddell and Michaela Finn.
