Mateas, Team USA Capture Gold at Master'U

GRENOBLE, France – Duke women's tennis freshman Maria Mateas and fellow American collegians closed out the Master'U BNP Paribas Collegiate Tournament in Grenoble, France, in style with Team USA's eighth gold medal since the event began in 2008.
"This was the greatest and most fun experience of my entire life," Mateas said. "I love this team and the coaches. Being able to represent the USA is a dream come true!"
This year's hardware joins the titles won in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
In a rematch between last year's champions, Great Britain, the United States dominated on the court to secure the crown.
Mateas, who played the No. 1 singles for the U.S., fell to Maia Lumsden (7-5, 6-3) before responding with doubles partner Jada Hart of UCLA. The duo defeated Lumsden and Laura Sainsbury (0-6, 7-6 [7], 1-0 [8] to close out the tournament.
Mateas joined Hart, Ashley Lahey (Pepperdine), Oliver Crawford (Florida), Emil Reinberg (Georgia) and Brandon Holt (USC) to form Team USA.
