DURHAM, N.C. - As Duke prepares for the postseason, Blue Devil Network and GoDuke.com will count down the top plays from the first 12 games of the 2018 season. The site will feature one highlight per day with the top play revealed on Thursday, December 27 when the Blue Devils (7-5) meet Temple (8-4) in the Walk-On's Independence Bowl at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Duke senior linebacker Ben Humphreys registered the No. 5 play with his caused fumble and recovery at Miami. With Duke leading 17-12 in the fourth quarter and having just thrown an interception that gave the Hurricanes possession at their own 47-yard line, Humphreys caused a Deejay Dallas fumble and recovered the loose ball on Miami's first snap. Humphreys' play kept Duke in the lead as the Blue Devils won 20-12 to net their first victory in Miami since 1976.
Humphreys finished the regular season with 66 tackles, 5.5 stops for lost yardage, 1.0 sack, three quarterback pressures, two fumble recoveries, one caused fumble and one pass breakup. He was named honorable mention All-ACC for his efforts. The Newport Beach, Calif., product was tabbed a finalist for the ninth annual Pop Warner National College Football Award and Lott IMPACT Trophy.
