DURHAM, N.C. – After opening the 2018 season on the road, Duke takes the field at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park for its first home game of the season Tuesday against North Carolina Central. The Blue Devils and the Eagles are set for a 4 p.m., first pitch on ACC Network Extra.
Duke (1-2, 0-0 ACC) comes off a trip to No. 15 Vanderbilt while NCCU (2-1, 0-0 MEAC) took 2-of-3 from Wagner to start the season. Preseason All-American Griffin Conine hit .444 on the weekend with a double, a home run, three RBI and three walks. For the Eagles, sophomore Corey Joyce picked up MEAC Player of the Week accolades after going 6-for-15 with three doubles, two homers and seven RBI over the weekend.
In a series dating back to 2008, the Blue Devils are undefeated against the Eagles, 21-0. Duke won both ends of a 2017 home-and-home series, securing a 14-6 victory at NCCU's home field February 21 before winning the second meeting 8-4 April 19 at the DBAP.
Tuesday's tilt features two left-handers on the mound in Duke's Graeme Stinson (0-0, 13.50) and NCCU's Andrew King (0-0, 0.00).
Admission to Tuesday's game is free of charge. Fans can find parking on the streets adjacent to the DBAP or in the nearby parking decks.
