DURHAM, N.C. – After picking up midweek wins over Campbell and Maryland Eastern Shore, Duke travels north for its first ACC road series of the season to take on Pitt Friday-Sunday, March 23-25 at Charles L. Cost Field.
The Blue Devils and the Panthers take the field for the series opener at 3 p.m., Friday, March 23, resume the series at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 24 and concludes the weekend at 12 p.m., Sunday, March 25. ACC Network Extra is set to broad cast all three games with Kevin Wheeler (play-by-play) and Josh Rowntree (color) on the call, while Matt Krause will handle the GoDuke.com audio broadcast.
No. 21 Duke (18-4, 4-2 ACC) has won both its first ACC series of the season, taking 2-of-3 from both Virginia and Miami to open league play. The Panthers won 1-of-3 versus Virginia Tech before suffering a sweep at North Carolina this past weekend. In addition, Pitt's midweek contest versus Penn State, scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed due to inclement weather.
Duke enters the weekend ranked second in the ACC in ERA (3.05) and is set to send Adam Laskey, Mitch Stallings and Ryan Day to the mound. Dan Hammer is slated to start Friday for the Panthers, followed by fellow righty Matt Pidich Saturday.
In a series dating back to 1939, Duke leads Pitt, 9-7. The Blue Devils had won four straight over the Panthers before Pitt won the final two contests of this past season's series in Durham, N.C.
