DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's lacrosse program will host a Lace Up With LAX donation game Saturday against Virginia in Koskinen Stadium. Fans attending the contest are asked to bring a new pair of children's shoes to be donated to the local homeless community.
Donation boxes will be placed near the ticket booths at both entrances to the stadium. All fans who bring a pair of shoes to donate will receive free admission to the contest.
Lace Up With LAX is dedicated to defining the legacy of lacrosse players off the field by working to provide children who are homeless a new pair of shoes and in turn, a step to a brighter future. Since the inception of the national non-profit organization in 2013, over 2,000 pairs of new shoes have been donated to homeless shelters across the globe.
The project began in 2013 with a single school and has since spread to over 100 high schools, colleges and universities and independent lacrosse programs in the United States, Canada and England.
All children's shoes collected at Saturday's contest in Koskinen will be donated locally to the Durham Rescue Mission.
