DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's rowing team returned to its home water Saturday afternoon for a scrimmage against ACC foe Virginia on Lake Michie in Bahama, N.C.
“Another really great day for Duke,” head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno said. “Virginia brought some speed, but Duke was right there with a response. Across all of the boats, they had some wins and we had some wins. We all learned a lot about what we want to work on and where we need to push going into the next few weeks of training. It's also great to have Virginia so close and battle against each other in a day trip.”
The Blue Devils and the Cavaliers featured five boats in the V8, 2V8, 3V8, V4 and 2V4.
Most recently, Duke claimed its second-consecutive Carolina Cup title in Clemson, S.C. The Blue Devils totaled 99 points to best North Carolina (81) and Clemson (77).
Duke will return to the water making the second of three trips to South Carolina for the Clemson Invite Saturday, April 14-15. The Blue Devils will officially face off against Virginia and 18 additional teams at the Clemson Invite.
