Giles-Harris Named to Camp Award Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt junior linebacker Joe Giles-Harris has been named to the Watch List for Walter Camp Award, an honor presented annually to the national player of the year by the Walter Camp Foundation.
Giles-Harris, who also appeared on the preseason watch lists for the Bednarik Award, Butkus Award and Nagurski Trophy, returns for his third year as a starting linebacker for the Blue Devils. He opens 2018 as one of eight active players nationally with 200 or more career tackles, 20.0 or more career tackles for lost yardage and 8.0 or more career sacks.
A 6-2, 240-pound Nyack, N.Y., product, Giles-Harris started all 13 games in 2017 and compiled 125 tackles, 16.0 TFL, 4.5 sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, one caused fumble and nine quarterback pressures. In the ACC, Giles-Harris ranked third in total tackles, third in tackles per game (9.62), fourth in TFL and fourth in TFL per game (1.23).
Giles-Harris ended last season by earning All-America selections by the Walter Camp Foundation (second team), CBS Sports (third), Phil Steele (third) and College Football News (honorable mention). Already this fall Giles-Harris has been tabbed as a preseason second team All-America by Athlon Sports, Phil Steele's College Football Preview and Sporting News. He has been a unanimous preseason first team All-ACC pick by Athlon Sports, Lindy's Sports, Phil Steele's College Football Preview and Street & Smith's College Football Yearbook.
He is listed by Lindy's Sports as the No. 3 outside linebacker in the nation and is charted as the No. 15 linebacker and the No. 99 overall player in the country by Sports Illustrated.
Giles-Harris enters 2018 as one of two returning players nationally to have posted 125 or more tackles and 15.0 or more tackles for lost yardage a season ago, joining Joe Dineen of Kansas.
