TATEYAMA, Japan – Former Duke standout Ashley Twichell represented the United States in three events at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships. She wrapped up the six-day meet with Tuesday's 10-kilometer open water event.
Twichell qualified for Pan Pacs with a victory in the open water 10K in May at the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships. Tuesday morning's race at Hojo Beach in Japan saw the 2011 Duke graduate take fourth in the women's race with a time of 2:08:29.6.
Twichell also competed in the pool at Pan Pacs, placing seventh in the 1,500-meter freestyle (16:07.49) and eighth in the 800 freestyle (8:29.36).
During her career at Duke, Twichell was an All-American and All-ACC champion in the 1,650-yard freestyle. She qualified for the NCAA Championship all four seasons and as a freshman was the first Blue Devil swimmer to compete at the national meet in four years.
Twichell recently sat down with Blue Devil Network to talk about her summer schedule and her career at Duke.
Been an exciting summer for 🔵😈 alum @atwich616 - good luck in the #PanPacs2018 open water 10K! 🇺🇸
