SERIES HISTORY
- The Blue Devils and Colonials meet for the fourth time and for the first time since 2010. Duke is 3-0-0 against George Washington, including the 4-0 win in 2010.
ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS
- Duke is aiming to stay on the winning path Tuesday night against the Colonials. The Blue Devils are coming off of a 3-2 win over Boston College to improve to 4-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in ACC play.
- Daniele Proch leads all scorers with six goals, while Kevin Feucht and Ian Murphy has two. Issa Rayyan has been outstanding on the flank, providing three assists. Fellow rookie Seth Kuhn has two assists to his name. Brandon Williamson is the engine to the midfield and Max Moser is a threat from the right side.
- Rookie Aedan Stanley has been anchoring the backline in the center back position. A captain, Ciaran McKenna and sophomore Matthias Frick man the wings on defense. Will Pulisic is the leader from the back in goal. Fresh off of a strong rookie campaign, Pulisic was tabbed one of the top 11 goalkeepers by Top Drawer Soccer. He posted seven shutouts a year ago and earned All-ACC third team recognition.
- Off the bench, Duke has the strongest its been in recent memory with a wealth of talent ready to step in. Nicolas Macri, Sivert Daehlie and Daniel Wright provide an offensive punch, while the talents of Torbjørn Alseth and Kristofer Alseth are available at center midfield.
LAST TIME OUT
- Duke freshman Ian Murphy made his first career start a memorable one, scoring two goals to help lead the ninth-ranked Blue Devils to a 3-2 victory over Boston College Friday night. Junior Daniele Proch had what proved to be the game winner in the 77th minute as the Eagles netted a late second goal to make things interesting.
- The Blue Devils outshot the Eagles 25-15 in the win. Will Pulisic made four saves for his fourth victory of the year.
PROCH'S SCORCHING START
- Junior forward Daniele Proch is off to a fast start in 2018 with six goals in the first six games. After netting three goals in the opening weekend to earn College Soccer News Team of the Week honors, the Italy native tallied two more to lead Duke to the 4-1 at San Digeo and repeat Team of the Week recognition.
- His six goals are one more than the five he scored in 20 games last season. His 1.00 goals per game average is the highest in the league and sixth nationally, while the 2.17 points per game average is first in the ACC and ninth in Division I soccer.
ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
- George Washington comes to Durham with a 4-3 overall record after upending Binghamton 3-2 in overtime last Tuesday. The Colonials have won two straight after losing three consecutive.
- Oscar Brown Haynes is one of the nation's top scorers with eight goals and two assists for 18 points. Joshua Yurasits and Drini Redzepi both have four assists apiece as the playmakers.
- Thor Arne Höfs has started all seven games and played all but 30 minuts. Arne Höfs owns a 1.19 goals against average and a .778 save percentage and one shutout.
DUKE in the POLLS
- Duke stayed put in the top 25 this week. College Soccer News has Duke at 22nd and Top Drawer Soccer 16th following the loss to Georgetown. The remaining polls will be released Tuesday.
ROOKIES SHINE
- The Blue Devils started three freshmen and had five play at least 20 minutes. Rookie Ian Murphy scored two of the three goals, while Issa Rayyan had two assists. Overall, they combined for six of the team's nine points in the game. Included in the five was Conor Kelly seeing his first action of the year.
HOME SWEET HOME
- The Blue Devils feature a busy home schedule again in 2018, playing at Koskinen Stadium 11 times. Duke is 3-1 this season and went 10-3-2 in 2017. The Blue Devils have just six road games in 2018.
- Under John Kerr, Duke is 79-27-16 at home for a .711 win percentage. The Blue Devils' best season was 2009, going 12-1-0 at home.
UP NEXT
- Duke hits the road to face the nation's No. 1 team in Wake Forest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., at Spry Stadium. The Demon Deacons are one of two teams to remain unbeaten and untied this season and have outscored opponents 23-6.
