Boykin to Miss Remainder of 2018-19 Campaign

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Duke women's basketball redshirt freshman guard Mikayla Boykin will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 season after suffering a torn ACL of her right knee in the Blue Devils' contest Thursday, Jan. 17 versus Miami in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
“We all feel for Mikayla,” said Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie. “There couldn't be a better, more hard-working individual than Mikayla. It is absolutely devastating for what we have to witness for her to go through this again.”
A native of Clinton, N.C., Boykin had just returned to see action in eight contests, after recovering from a torn ACL of her left knee in December of 2017. In the eight contests in 2018-19, Boykin gave Duke a boost at the point guard position with Kyra Lambert already missing the season with a knee injury.
Boykin averaged 9.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals so far on the season. She started five of the eight games played. Boykin dished a career-high 11 assists at Georgia Tech and tied a Duke freshman record that was previously set in 1980.
The Blue Devils are set to take on 21st-ranked Florida State Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m., in Tallahassee, Fla.
