DURHAM, N.C. – Led by four three-time honorees, Duke landed a league-high 12 selections on the 70-member 2018 All-ACC Academic Football team announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Ben Humphreys, Daniel Jones, Johnathan Lloyd and Chris Taylor each received their third Academic All-ACC accolades.
The Blue Devils have now led the conference in All-ACC Academic selections for 10 consecutive seasons.
Duke paced the league with its 12 selections, followed by Georgia Tech (8), Clemson (7), Pittsburgh (6), Syracuse (6), Virginia (6), N.C. State (5), Boston College (4), Louisville (4), Wake Forest (4), Miami (3), Virginia Tech (2), Florida State (2) and North Carolina (1).
Joining Humphreys, Jones, Lloyd and Taylor with multiple citations are two-time choices Joe Giles-Harris, Daniel Helm and Davis Koppenhaver. Duke's first-time picks were Brittain Brown, Michael Carter II, Rakavius Chambers, Quentin Harris and Marquis Waters.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 or better grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. The league has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.
