CHICAGO, Ill. – Duke University junior
Jaravee Boonchant carded her 14th career top 10 finish at the Windy City Collegiate Championship as she signed for rounds of 70, 71 and 72 for a three-under-par, 213, at the 6,368-yard, par 72 Glen View Club in Chicago, Ill.
Boonchant, a native of Bangkok, Thailand, regained her form of from her first two seasons after struggling in the season opener at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate with a tied for 42nd finish. The two-time All-America now owns 44 career rounds of even or under par to move her into a tie for 10th on Duke's all-time charts.
"The ANNIKA was the first tournament I played since the NCAA Championship," said Boonchant. "So my mind was not really in tournament mode yet. There were many times when I did not think clearly and was too emotional. Before coming to this tournament, Coach [Dan] Brooks and Jon [Whithaus] had set up drills for us, which were good preparation and gave me more confidence in my game. This week, I was more patient out there on the golf course. I tried to focus on simple things and play one hole at a time."
In Tuesday's final round, Boonchant turned in a bogey-free round of 72 and finished the tournament with 40 pars, which was tied for fifth most overall over 54 holes. She placed tied for sixth overall for the tournament.
Pauline Roussin-Bouchard of South Carolina claimed the individual title with an 11-under, 205, ledger.
