DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke football team ran into a strong Virginia squad on Saturday, dropping a 48-14 decision to its ACC Coastal Division foe.Â
Â
Let's take a quick rewind to see how everything unfolded.
Prior to the start of the game, both Duke and Virginia teamed up to honor the 150th year of college football by wearing helmet decals.Â
Â
On Virginia's opening possession, redshirt sophomore Leonard Johnson picked off Bryce Perkins in the end zone for Duke's second turnover in the red zone this season. Johnson earned his third career interception on the play as well.
Â
The Cavaliers defense helped their offense by holding the Blue Devils scoreless over their opening nine possessions of the game. During that time, Virginia used 27-straight points to break the game open. Duke finally got on the board when redshirt senior quarterback Quentin Harris connected with redshirt junior Scott Bracey for a 36-yard catch-and-score.Â

Despite another 23-yard touchdown late by Eli Pancol from Chris Katrenick late in the contest, the Blue Devils weren't able to overcome the deficit.
Â
Katrenick recorded his first passing touchdown of the season and second of his career when he found Pancol in the end zone. Pancol picked up his third receiving touchdown, tied with classmate Jalon Calhoun for the team lead, in four catches this year.Â
On the defensive side of the football, junior Victor Dimukeje registered his team-leading 6.5 sack of the season and the 12.0 of his career when he took down Perkins twice in the second quarter. His 12.0 career sacks have him tied with Ernie Clark, David Wafle, and Matt Zielinski for ninth all-time in program history. The Baltimore, Md., native has earned at least one sack in each of Duke's last three games (2.0 against Pittsburgh and 3.0 against Georgia Tech).
The Blue Devils are back on the road Saturday when they travel to rival North Carolina on Oct. 26 for a 4 p.m. start. The game will be carried live on RSN.Â
