Saturday's contest will be the 100th meeting between Duke and Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons had a prolonged winning streak from 2000-11, but the Blue Devils have won five of the last seven meetings between these ACC foes.Â
   The series breakdown: Away: 25-15-2 | Home: 27-22 | Neutral: 6-2
Both teams have had a 12-game winning streak during the series. Duke's was from 1952-1969, while Wake Forest saw its streak last from 2000-11. The Blue Devils also posted a 15-game unbeaten streak from 1927-1941, with one of those games being a 13-13 tie (1930).Â
Almost a year to the date, Wake Forest defeated Duke, 59-7, during the teams' last meeting on Nov. 24, 2018. Deon Jackson scored the Blue Devils' lone touchdown in the contest when he and Daniel Jones teamed up for a six-yard receiving score. Lummie Young IV led all tacklers with a career-high 15 stops.Â
Despite having thumb surgery a week before the season opener, Koby Quansah has secured a team-best 88 tackles (fifth in the ACC), including 9.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Three other Blue Devils have earned 50-plus tackles on the year in Dylan Singleton, Marquis Waters and Brandon Hill with 66, 55 and 50, respectively.Â
For his solid performance against Syracuse, Reed was tabbed the ACC Specialist Player of the Week. The Prattville, Ala., native converted field goals of 31 yards and a career-best 51 yards. Thanks to his second kick, Reed became the sixth player in Duke history to record multiple field goals of 50-or more yards in a season. He is the only ACC kicker this year with three field goals of 49-or-more yards.Â
Quansah leads the team in tackles for loss and sits tied for 14th in the ACC with that mark. Redshirt sophomore defensive end Chris Rumph II follows closely with 8.5 TFL, while junior defensive end Victor Dimukeje isn't far behind with his 7.5 mark. Duke is one of only five teams in the ACC with a trio of players with at least 7.5 TFL this season (Miami, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Virginia).
Over his last three games, Shaka Heyward has produced 29 tackles, 5.0 TFL, 3.0 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. With 47 tackles on the season, he is three stops away from becoming the 23rd freshman in Duke history to register 50+ tackles in a season. Also, with his 6.0 TFL on the year, Heyward is 1.0 tackle for loss short of 10th place on Duke's TFL chart by a freshman.
Since the start of the 2017 season, Duke has gone 8-7 in its road games, with a 2-2 mark in 2019. Cutcliffe led the Blue Devils to an 8-18 (.308) road record during his opening five years. Since then, however, Cutcliffe has watched his Duke team post a 22-15 (.595) mark away from Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.Â
