DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke Athletics, under the leadership of Kelly Preussner (Associate Director/Academic Services), Meghan Weiseman (Director of Equipment Operations), and SAAC Reps Erin Marsh and Kincey Smith, set a new record for donations: a total of $5,800! Of this total, Duke student-athletes contributed over $1,400.
Kelly stated, "It is a really great experience to be able to partner with our student athletes who also donate and help wrap and see the difference it makes in them. As a member of the Duke Athletics family we should be very proud of the difference we are making in the lives of those within our community this holiday season."
Donations went to the Project Share Program, which is overseen by Domonique Redmond (Assistant Director of Programs at the Duke Community Service Center). This program, in which Duke University participates annually, provides gifts to local families during the holiday season. In fact, the program supports over 300 adults and children in the Durham community each year. Over the past 13 years, Duke student-athletes have shared their holiday spirit by participating in the program. This year, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in partnership with the Duke Athletic Department and the Duke Community Service Center, sponsored 70 students and their family members through Project Share.
