SALEM, S.C. -- As the No. 9 Duke men's golf team continues its preparation for the ACC Championship later this month, the Blue Devils are one of 15 teams converging on The Cliffs at Keowee Falls for the Clemson Invitational that begins Friday.
Duke tees is up Friday at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start, with 18 holes set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Head coach Jamie Green has set his lineup for the weekend with senior Alex Smalley leading the Blue Devils at the No. 1 position. Smalley is the ACC's leading golfer this season, averaging 69.2 strokes for his 22 rounds. Smalley is edging out Clemson's Bryson Nimmer (69.4) who is also in action this weekend. Smalley, who has a win and six top-five finishes to his credit this season, is the nation's seventh-ranked golfer.
Duke joins host No. 17 Clemson, along with Army West Point, Boston College, College of Charleston, Connecticut, Elon, Furman, No. 14 Georgia, No. 8 Georgia Tech, Louisiana Tech, UNC Wilmington, Virginia, Western Carolina and Wofford in the tournament.
Junior Chandler Eaton will play at No. 2 for Duke, followed by sophomore Adrien Pendaries, sophomore Evan Katz and junior Steven DiLisio to round out the Blue Devils' lineup.
The Cliffs at Keowee Falls, located in Salem, S.C., is a par 72 track, playing at 7,103 yards. Live scoring for the Clemson Invitational is available at golfstat.com.
