DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore Jaravee Boonchant of the Duke women's golf team was named the Duke Student-Athlete of the Week Wednesday, after turning in a tied for third place finish at the NCAA Auburn Regional this past week.
A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Boonchant posted rounds of 72, 71 and 70 for a three-under-par, 213, to finish only three shots behind the individual winner, Auston Kim of Vanderbilt (210). The two-time All-ACC selection helped the top-seeded Blue Devils to a third place ledger and advanced to the NCAA Championship, which will take place May 17-22 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Boonchant now owns a team-best 72.00 stroke average and 16 rounds of even or under par on the season. She is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in the GolfStat ledger.
Duke will tee off beginning at 12:55 p.m. (ET) Friday, May 17 at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
