The Duke Men's XC Team Moves Up to No. 6 in Regional Rankings
DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's cross country team moved up to number six in the recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional rankings today.
The Blue Devils are one of seven ACC schools to be ranked in the most recent rankings. N.C. State leads at number one, followed by Virginia (No. 2), Virginia Tech (No. 4), Wake Forest (No. 7), Louisville (No. 9) and North Carolina (No. 10).
In the past two weeks, Duke has endured much success with a first place finish at the Elon Opener on August 30 and a second place showing at the Cavalier Classic this past weekend. The Blue Devils finished nine in the top-10 and 12 in the top-15 at the 6K Elon Opener and placed three in the top-10 and six in the top-15 at the 8K Cavalier Classic.
Junior Alex Miley led Duke with a 6k time of 18:26.9 at Elon, while junior CJ Ambrosio ran a team-best time of 24:27.2 at the Cavalier Classic. Both runners placed second overall.
The Blue Devil women remained at number three in the women's Southeast Regional rankings.
The Duke women compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational this Friday, September 20 in Blacksburg, Va. Start time is set for 5:30 p.m. The Blue Devil men will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., next for the Roy Griak Invite on Saturday, September 28, beginning at 10:30 a.m. eastern/9:30 a.m. central time.
