Day Two of Furman Invitational Wraps Up
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Duke women's tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition at the 33rd Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic Saturday afternoon in Greenville, S.C.
The singles action was highlighted by junior Ema Lazic advancing to the finals of the flight 10 draw as she defeated North Carolina's Sophia Patel 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Lazic will face Gemma Heath of USC Sunday at 9 a.m.
Freshman Chloe Beck also pulled out a victory over No. 115 Magda Adaloglou of MSU (6-7, 6-1, 6-3) and will play Florida State's Petra Hule Sunday at 9 a.m., in the consolation final of flight 3.
Duke was unable to pull out a victory in doubles as No. 41 Kelly Chen/Margaryta Bilokin fell to North Carolina's No. 3 Makenna Jones/Cameron Morra (8-5), Meible Chi/Beck fell 8-4 to Kenya Jones/Victoria Flores of Georgia Tech and Hannah Zhao/Lazic fell to Texas' Lexi Ryngler/Fernanda Labrana in a tiebreak 8-7 (6).
Duke will close out the Furman Invitational Sunday with the final round of singles.
