HAMPTON, Va. – Duke wrestling fell to Rider and Fresno State on Day 1 of the Virginia Duals at Hampton Coliseum on Friday.

The Blue Devils dropped a 47-3 decision to the Broncs before falling 50-0 to the Bulldogs.

Duke faced three top-15 wrestlers on the day, including Rider's Jesse Dellavecchia who is ranked No. 7 by InterMat.

Against the Broncs, freshman Wade Unger registered his first dual win of the year in thrilling fashion when he took down Gino Fluri in sudden victory, 8-6 at 149 pounds.

During the Blue Devils' battle with Fresno State, Duke found itself already down 18-0 before the match even started due to forfeits at the 125, 165 and HWT. Rookie 197-pounder Vincent Baker tried to record points for the Blue Devils but ultimately fell to Isaiah Perez by a 5-3 decision.

Duke will compete in the seventh-place dual match against Pennsylvania on Saturday at 10 a.m. The showdown will be held on Mat 2.
