Setting the Scene...
Coming off a thrilling victory over Virginia Tech in its last contest, the Duke women's basketball team (8-8, 2-3 ACC) will welcome Notre Dame (6-11, 1-4) Thursday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. It will mark "Craft Beer" night prior to the contest.
The game will be aired live on ACC Network with Pam Ward (PXP) and Debbie Antonelli (Color). It will also be carried on the Duke Sports Network via WDNC AM 620, TuneIn app and www.GoDuke.com with Chris Edwards (PXP) on the air beginning at 7:45 p.m. (ET).
What is Next?...
Duke will hit the road for the first of two straight road contests. The Blue Devils will play at Clemson Sunday, Jan. 19 at 12 p.m., live on ESPNU.
Three Keys...
1)
Haley Gorecki is one of only two players nationally to average over 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.0 steals. She joins only Stella Johnson of Rider.
2) Redshirt freshman
Mikayla Boykin made her 2019-20 debut against WFU. She scored two points and had two assists in nine minutes, after being out for 350 days. Boykin has averaged 12.5 points, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals over the last two games, which includes a career-high 14 points versus Virginia Tech.
3) In two years at Duke,
Miela Goodchild has drained 54-of-127 three-pointers at home in Cameron for a 42.5 percentage.
Strength of Schedule...
The Blue Devils feature the third-toughest schedule nationally -- Virginia (1), Miami (2), Duke (3), Ohio State (4) and Oklahoma (5) round out the top five.
Duke's five non-conference losses in 2019-20 came against teams that have collected a combined 74-10 record.
Storylines/Other Blue Devil Notes...
• Duke limited Virginia Tech to only seven points over the final 12 minutes of the overtime contest Sunday. The 72 points by the Blue Devils snapped a streak of Duke scoring 63 points or fewer over the last five games.
• For the fifth time this season, Duke had five players hit at least one three-pointer against Virginia Tech. The Blue Devils also accomplished this against High Point and Boston College. Duke had not featured five different players hitting a trey since the 2014-15 campaign when it did it twice.
• Duke's 39 bench points against Virginia Tech was a season high and the most since Nov. 16, 2014 versus Alabama.

Haley Gorecki has averaged 21.3 points, 7.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals over the last three games. She has hit 21-of-42 field goals (50.0%) and 8-of-18 treys (44.4%).
• Over the last two home games,
Jade Williams has averaged 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists. She hit 10-of-20 field goals in those contests.
• After scoring only 19 points the last four games,
Miela Goodchild registered 14 points and hit 3-of-6 treys against Virginia Tech.
• Since scoring 15 points at Louisville,
Azana Baines has scored seven points and hit only 2-of-10 field goals.
• Duke had a season-high 28 turnovers and allowed a season-high 51.1 percent shooting at Virginia.

• After scoring double-digits in three straight games,
Onome Akinbode-James has scored only nine points the last seven contests. She has averaged only 1.6 points over the last seven games.

Haley Gorecki, Kiah Gillespie of Florida State, Jazmine Jones of Louisville and Shayla Bennett of UNC are the only players in the ACC to post double-digit rebounds and double-digit assists in a game in 2019-20.
• Duke's five losses in November/December were the most for the Blue Devils since the 1983-84 season (6).
• Duke features the fourth-tallest squad in school history standing with an average height of 73.21. The three tallest teams were in 2016-17 (73.38), 2011-12 and 2014-15 (73.25).

The Series with Notre Dame..
Duke and Notre Dame will meet for the 19th time in school history with the Irish leading the series 17-1.
Notre Dame has won 15 straight contests, including a 4-1 mark in games played in Durham, N.C.
Coach P has totaled a 2-13 record against Notre Dame, including an 0-13 mark at Duke.
Boykin Provides Spark...
After missing most of the last two seasons with knee injuries, redshirt freshman
Mikayla Boykin returned to action Jan. 2 versus Wake Forest. She scored two points in nine minutes, while dishing two assists.
She made a big impact on the road at Virginia in only her third game back as she scored a season-high 11 points, had three assists, one steal and hit 2-of-3 treys. She was even better versus Virginia Tech with a career-high 14 points, three assists and one steal in 22 minutes. Boykin scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half and overtime.
In her first two seasons, Boykin had been limited to only 18 games due to injuries. She averaged 6.7 points, 3.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds in that limited time.
Boykin last had surgery Tuesday, Jan. 22, after suffering an ACL injury. She has suffered four ACL injuries over her hoops career. In her eight games last season, Boykin averaged 9.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals. Boykin scored a career-high 13 points at ninth-ranked NC State. She added a career-high 11 assists at Georgia Tech. The 11 assists tied a Duke freshman record.
One of Only Three in ACC...
Haley Gorecki, along with Dana Evans (Louisville) and Kiara Lewis (Syracuse), are the only players in the ACC who rank in the top five in the conference in scoring and top 10 in assists.

Double-Doubles...
Haley Gorecki owns four double-doubles on the season, which ranks tied for ninth in the ACC. She also ranks tied for third with six games with 20 or more points.

Last Year at Notre Dame...
Miela Goodchild rose to the occasion at fifth-ranked Notre Dame last year as she scored a then career-high 26 points and also set new freshman records for made three-pointers (8) and three-pointers attempted (14).
She scored 21 of her 26 points in the second half and hit seven three-pointers in the second half. Her 26 points was tied for the 12th most by a Duke freshman in a single game.
Her eight three-pointers matched Rebecca Greenwell's Duke overall single game record as well. Goodchild's 14 three-pointers attempted was tied for the fourth most in Duke history.
Impressive Against ACC...
In five conference contests,
Haley Gorecki leads the ACC in scoring (21.6) and her 108 points is the most in league play. She is doing so with remarkable efficiency, while shooting 48.7 percent from the floor, 36.7 percent from three, and 84.0 percent from the free throw line.
She ranks ninth in field goal percentage, sixth in free throw percentage and 10th in three-point percentage.
Besides ranking first in scoring in ACC games, Gorecki also ranks ninth in assists (4.2) and first in steals (3.2).
Tough Defense...
In ACC contests, Duke's defense has been among the best in the conference in a number of key categories.
In five league games, Duke's defense is holding opponents to 25.5 percent shooting from three, second-best in the league behind Louisville. Duke ranks fourth in ACC contests in rebounding defense, surrendering only 34.6 rebounds per game to opponents. And in conference games, Duke ranks second in steals per game, at 9.6.
Odom Misses Games...
Senior
Leaonna Odom missed the FGCU and Wake Forest contests as she was dealing with a lower body injury.
She made her return at Louisville and came off the bench. Odom played 28 minutes and collected eight points, one rebound and three steals.
Odom added 12 points off the bench at Virginia to go along with a season-high three blocks, four rebounds and four steals in 35 minutes.
Tough Non-Conference Slate...
Of Duke's 11 non-conference opponents in 2019-20, seven of those have winning records. Overall, the Blue Devil opponents have combined for a 125-47 mark so far through Jan. 13.
