Five Blue Devils Named to All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM, N.C. – Five members of the Duke cross country team, including three from the men's team and two from the women's, received All-ACC Academic honors, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.
The Blue Devils were represented by juniors Paul Dellinger, Josh Romine, Sara Platek and Michaela Reinhart as well as freshman Sam Rivera. Romine appears on the All-Academic list for the second-consecutive season while Dellinger earns the honor for the first time in his career.
Romine helped pace the men's squad that placed first at the Pirate Invite with his fourth-place finish in the 8k – a personal-best time of 24:24.0. Dellinger meanwhile helped the men's contingent take second place at the Cavalier Classic, where he finished third in the 8k with a personal-best time of 24:28.5. Rivera ran the 8k in 25:16.4 at the ACC Cross Country Championships and was named ACC Freshman of the Year. All three also traveled to the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships where they closed the season.
Reinhart earns her third-consecutive All-Academic selection while Platek receives her first such honor. Reinhart recorded a personal-best time of 20:28.8 for an 11th-place finish in the 6k at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. Platek helped the women's team finish fourth at the Elon Opener with a second-place time in the 4k (14:11.0). She went on to finish 18th in the 6k at the Southeast Regionals with a time of 20:44.2.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
