DURHAM, N.C. – Duke landed a league-high 11 selections on the 73-member 2019 All-ACC Academic Football team announced by the ACC on Thursday.Â

Five of Duke's 11 picks named were repeat selections, with four earning this praise for the second straight season. Tre Hornbuckle garnered his second acknowledgement as well after being selected to the team in 2017.
 Michael Carter II, Rakavius Chambers, Quentin Harris and Marquis Waters are the four Blue Devils who received their second consecutive Academic All-ACC accolade. Duke's first-time picks were Zach Baker, Scott Bracey, Noah Gray, Casey Holman, AJ Reed, and Aaron Young.

The Blue Devils have now led the conference in All-ACC Academic selections for 11 consecutive seasons.Â
Duke paced the league with its 11 picks, followed by followed by Virginia (10), Clemson (8), Boston College (6), Syracuse (6), Virginia Tech (6), Louisville (5), Pitt (5), Wake Forest (5), Georgia Tech (3), N.C. State (3), Miami (2), North Carolina (2) and Florida State (1).

Over the last eight seasons (2012-19), Duke has produced a conference-best 118 All-ACC Academic selections ahead of Pittsburgh (44), Clemson (42), Virginia (40), Syracuse (38), N.C. State (36), Wake Forest (34), Virginia Tech (28), Boston College (27), Georgia Tech (26), Miami (24), Louisville (21), North Carolina (17) and Florida State (12). Of note, Syracuse and Pittsburgh's totals do not include 2012, while Louisville's sum does not include 2012-13.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 or better grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. The league has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.
