DURHAM, N.C.— Riding a four-match winning streak, the Duke women's soccer program moved up one slot to No. 4 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Association Top 15 national rankings, as announced Tuesday.
The Blue Devils feature a 5-1-2 overall and 3-1-2 ACC ledger heading into Friday's contest against top-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The match will kick at 7 p.m., and will be aired live on ACC Network Extra.
The ACC features the top four in the national rankings and six out of the top 13 -- North Carolina (1), Florida State (2), Clemson (3), Duke (4), Virginia (10) and Louisville (13). The No. 4 ranking for the Blue Devils is the highest regular season ranking since 2017.
After opening the season with a 1-1-2 record, Duke has reeled off four straight wins, including two on the road this past weekend at Boston College and Syracuse. The Blue Devils have outscored their opponents by an 8-0 ledger during the win streak.
Duke owns six different student-athletes that have collected two or more goals on the year, while eight Blue Devils have registered an assist. Sophomore
Ruthie Jones has been stellar in goal registering four shutouts and a 0.43 goals-against average. Overall, Duke's defense has been solid and owns a 411:52 scoreless streak, which is the seventh-longest streak since 2002.
The Blue Devils have three regular season matches remaining in 2020, including contests at top-ranked North Carolina and second-ranked Florida State.
