Get to know Damond Philyaw-Johnson:
Q: What is your favorite homecooked meal? DPJ: Spaghetti, specifically my aunt's spaghetti she makes around Thanksgiving.
Q:Â What is your favorite Duke football memory? DPJ:Â When we went to Detroit for the bowl game. That was my first time really seeing snow and we were outside playing in it when we had free time or a break. I almost had frostbite on my hands from trying to play in the snow with no gloves on.
Q:Â What is your pregame ritual? DPJ:Â I always go to the same staff members to get taped and stretched and I always put on my girdle first before I do anything else.
Q: What is your favorite sweet treat? DPJ: In high school, my team's trainer used to make a fried Oreo and then put them inside a muffin. It's different, but it was good.
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live? DPJ: I'm from the south and I like the sun, so maybe Bora Bora.
Q: What is your dream vacation spot? DPJ: I don't think I really have one, but I've never been outside the country so somewhere new.
Q:What coach would you want to be your teammate on the Amazing Race? DPJ: I'd either take Coach (Trooper) Taylor or Mitch Singler.
Q:Is there a significance behind wearing No. 85? DPJ: Not really, I wore 81 when I was little and my grandmother said I should go 85. She fell in love with the number and in love with Duke so I always said I would keep the same number.
Q:What is your major and why are you passionate about it? DPJ: Sociology. The more I learn about it the more I realize that with me wanting to do law enforcement after football, everything evolves around sociology, the environment and any social changes.
