DURHAM, N.C. – Duke baseball is set to begin its annual Fall World Series on Wednesday at Jack Coombs Field.
Â
The five-game series kicks off Wednesday followed by additional games on Friday, Saturday, Tuesday (Nov. 10), and Wednesday (Nov. 11). First pitch for each contest is slated for 4:45 p.m.
Â
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Duke University protocols, fans will not be allowed inside the stadium.
Â
The Fall World Series will wrap up the Blue Devils' 2020 fall slate as they will transition into offseason workouts at the conclusion of the event.
Â
Duke saw the unfortunate abrupt cancelation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic after reaching the NCAA Super Regionals the year prior. At the time of cancelation, the Blue Devils held a 12-4 record and were just beginning ACC play.
Â
Since then, the Blue Devils have seen three players enter the professional baseball ranks, including
Bryce Jarvis who was drafted 18th overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks in June. During the offseason 14 players joined the Blue Devils for this upcoming season, including 10 freshmen and four transfers in
Richard Brereton (Emory),
Chris Davis (Princeton),
Peter Matt (Penn), andÂ
Spencer Shores (Middlebury).
