DURHAM, N.C. – Redshirt freshman punter Porter Wilson was named ACC Co-Specialist of the Week after his performance against Miami, the league announced Monday afternoon.

The award is Wilson's first weekly award of his career and Duke's fourth this season. He joins senior defensive end Victor Dimukeje(Co-Defensive Lineman on Sept. 21), redshirt freshman kicker Charlie Ham(Specialist on Oct. 12) and freshman safety Isaiah Fisher-Smith (Specialist on Nov. 2).

Wilson shined against Miami, punting seven times for a total of 312 yards, an average of 44.57 yards per punt. Of the seven punts, four traveled 50+ yards and six were pinned inside the 20-yard line. In addition, he saw three punts get returned for a total of -2 yards.

The Fairlawn, Ohio native stepped into the starting role in 2020 after redshirting the 2019 season. In his first year in the starting role, Wilson has booted 48 punts for 2,072 yards, an average of 43.17 yards per punt. He has impressively put 21 punts inside the 20-yard line and boasts 11 punts of 50+ yards. Only 15 of his 48 punts have been returned this season for a total of six yards, an average of 0.40 yards per return.

The ACC's other weekly honors included Boston College's Dennis Grosel (quarterback), Notre Dame's Kyren Williams (co-running back), Javon McKinley (receiver) and Clarence Lewis (defensive back); NC State's Payton Lewis (linebacker) and Christopher Dunn (co-Specialist), Syracuse's Sean Tucker (co-running back), Virginia's Ryan Swoboda (offensive lineman), Miami's Quincy Roche (defensive lineman) and Clemson's Myles Murphy (rookie).
The Blue Devils return to action Saturday at 4 p.m. when they travel to Florida State. The game will be televised live on the ACC Network.
