SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 10th-ranked Duke women's tennis team blanked its second opponent of the weekend, No. 25 Syracuse, 7-0, Sunday afternoon in Syracuse, N.Y.
With the victory, the Blue Devils improve to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play as the Orange dip to 6-2 and 1-1 in the ACC.
"All in all, it was a great weekend for us," head coach
Jamie Ashworth said. "To go on the road in this conference is never easy and to come away with two convincing wins is a great stepping stone to where we want to be. We hadn't played in 14 days, so once we found our footing and got comfortable with the different speed matches bring, we did a great job. We are definitely looking forward to getting home and playing in front of the best fans in the country."
For the eighth time this season and the second match in a row, the Blue Devils captured the doubles point.
Syracuse only had two doubles teams in action today and Duke was able to take both.
Chloe Beck and
Kelly Chen beat Miranda Ramirez and Guzal Yusupova (6-3) on court one before another 6-3 victory on court two for
