GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke men's swimming and diving set multiple career bests during the third day of the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday at the Greensboro Aquatics Center (GAC).
After the third day of competition, the men are in 10th with 344 points.
Senior
Miles Williams represented Duke in the evening finals of the 100 butterfly after reaching the 'C' Final by swimming a career-best 46.87 in the preliminaries and moved to second on the Duke charts. The Hong Kong native finished third in the final during the evening.
Charlie Gingrich (47.44) and
Nick Talati (48.97) both also set career-best times in the 100 fly preliminaries. Gingrich's 47.44 moved to fifth in Duke history.
Everett Werner placed seventh in the 'C' Final of the 400 individual medley after reaching the final with a 3:54.56 in the morning preliminaries.
The Blue Devils had one finals qualifier in the 200 freestyle as
Sheldon Boboff placed third in the 'C' Final with a career-best time of 1:35.38.
David Hallaron (1:37.26),
Zach Washart (1:39.22) and
Coleman Kredich (1:39.34) all swam career bests in the 200 freestyle. Hallaron's time placed him eighth in the Duke charts.
Duke had four finals qualifiers in the 100 breaststroke, the highest for a single event in the ACC Championships thus far.
Cole Reznick and
Colson Zucker represented Duke in the 'B' Final, while
Adam Zimmer and
Henry Wu swam in the 'C' Final. Reznick swam a career best and NCAA 'B' standard time of 54.06 to move to 10th in the all-time charts. Zucker's 53.89 in the morning preliminaries was a career best and sits in ninth in Duke lure.
Nathaniel Hartley was the lone Blue Devil in the 100 backstroke final, placing second in the 'C' Final in a career-best 47.16.
Duke finished up the day in the 400 medley relay as Hartley, Zucker, Gingrich and Boboff swam a 3:12.89, the tenth-best time in Duke history.
The Blue Devils will finish up the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships tomorrow at the meet. On the slate for tomorrow is the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay. The evening action will begin at 6 p.m., at the GAC in Greensboro, N.C.
