HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The third-ranked Duke women's golf team carded one of the low team rounds of the day Sunday to close action at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The Blue Devils turned in a six-over-par, 290, on their way to moving up the leaderboard to finish third overall at the 6,266-yard, Par 71 Pete Dye Course at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
Duke improved each day with rounds of 299, 295 and 290 to close in third place with a 32-over, 884. Wake Forest (855) won the team title, while Auburn (881), Duke (884), UCLA (885), Texas (888), South Carolina (891), North Carolina (893), Baylor (894), Arkansas (896) and LSU (897) rounded out the top 10.
"We finished a distant third, which wasn't what we'd hoped for," said Duke head coach
Dan Brooks. "But attitudes were good and we have a few days to sharpen up for our next event."
Blue Devil senior
Ana Belac paced the Blue Devils over the 54 holes with rounds of 71, 75 and 73 for a six-over-par, 219, which was ninth overall.
