DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior
Bryce Jarvis earned his second weekly conference honor of the season, as the right-hander was selected as the ACC Pitcher of the Week following his standout performance last Friday in the series opener with then-No. 11 Florida State.
Jarvis was dominant once again for the Blue Devils, notching his third consecutive quality start. The junior right-hander allowed just one hit and one walk across his 7.0 innings of work, while racking up 12 strikeouts to pick up his third win of the season.
Jarvis carried a perfect game through 6.2 frames before allowing his first baserunner of the day, who reached on a strikeout wild pitch. The baserunner ended a span of 16.2 perfect innings at home for Jarvis. The right-hander has only allowed one run, seven hits and one walk across his last three starts, totaling 23.0 innings of work with a 0.39 ERA.
The Franklin, Tenn., native becomes just the second Blue Devil in program history to win multiple weekly conference accolades in one season, joining former standout Vaughn Schill, who also accomplished the feat. Schill was named ACC Player of the Week twice during the 1999 season.
Entering the spring, Jarvis was tabbed the No. 49 junior on
Perfect Game's list Top 100 juniors entering the 2020 season. The junior right-hander also earned Preseason All-America honors from both
D1Baseball and the
National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
