DURHAM, N.C. – Duke swimming and diving head coach
Dan Colella announced the incoming freshmen class for the 2020-21 season. With the announcement, GoDuke.com will be highlighting all 15 signees in the coming weeks.

Ashley Chompre is Durham-bound and will be a member of the Duke swimming and diving team this coming season. The Glen Mills, Pa., native is currently wrapping up her high school education at Wilmington Friends School.

Chompre has been a stud in the water for Wilmington Friends School under head coach Robin Lebauer. She won the Delaware state championship in the 100 butterfly all four of her high school seasons. During her junior and senior year, she was named Delaware Swimmer of the Year in addition to serving as a captain of her school team.

She had her best year yet when she was a senior. In addition to being named Delaware Swimmer of the Year and winning the 100 butterfly, Chompre also won the 200 individual medley at the state meet and received NISCA All-America honors in both events.

On the club scene, Chompre swam for Westtown Aquatics Club. She currently has two US Open Cut times in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Out of the pool, she was an active member and leader of Student Government, the Service Committee and TechSupport at Wilmington Friends School. Academically, Chompre is a College Board National Hispanic scholar as a senior while earning the honors of USA Swimming Scholastic All-American her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. In addition, she served as a coach for two sports, swimming and running, with Special Olympics Delaware.

She was born Ashley Nicole Chompre on April 29, 2002 to her parents Linda and Aristipo Chompre in Upland, Pa. She has an older brother, Ryan.
