DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke track & field program is excited to announce the addition of graduate-transfer Zoe Hughes, who comes to Durham after spending the past four seasons competing at Harvard.
Hughes was a versatile member of the Crimson's program over the last four years, taking part in sprinting, relay and field events. The Hornchurch, U.K., native contributed to second-place finishes in the women's 4x400-meter relay and the pentathlon at the 2020 Ivy League Indoor Track & Field Championships in February. In the pentathlon, she collected 3,933 points and placed in the top five of all five events, including a first-place distance of 5.84 meters (19-2.0 feet) in the long jump. Hughes set a personal record in the 60m hurdles earlier in the season when she clocked a time of 8.66 seconds at the Tiger Paw Invitational.
As a sophomore, Hughes earned first-team All-Ivy League honors in the indoor 4x400m relay, and also claimed second team status in the pentathlon. Some of her highest accolades came during her freshman indoor campaign, when she finished first in the pentathlon at the Ivy League Championships with a personal-best point total of 4,093. She went on to place 10th at the NCAA Indoor Championships to pick up United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) second-team All-America honors and was additionally named the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year.
