2005 - Women's Basketball - Monique Currie and the 2005 USA Women's World University Games Team knocked off Serbia & Montenegro, 79-52, in Izmir, Turkey to claim the gold medal. She notched eight points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the victory.
August 20
2001 - Women's Basketball - Duke closed its trip to Australia, after visiting Sydney, Brisbane and Canes.
2015 - Women's Golf - Leona Maguire was named winner of the Mark H McCormack Medal as the leading women's golfer in the 2015 World amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
2016 - Women's Golf - In the first Olympics for women's golf, Leona Maguire tied for 21st and was tied for the lowest amateur, while Laetitia Beck tied for 31st in Brazil.
August 21
2005 - Men's Basketball - Led by a double-double from Shelden Williams, the United States claimed the gold medal at the 2005 World University Games with an 85-70 victory over the Ukraine in Turkey. Williams double-double included 15 points and 14 rebounds in the gold medal game, to go along with a game-high four blocked shots.
2012 - Women's Basketball - Duke closed its European Tour as the Blue Devils took home Allison Vernerey to her home country of France and played three contests. Duke visited Lake Como, Italy, to round out the trip.
2017 - Women's Golf - Brittany Lang and the United States squad took down Europe, 16.5-11.5, to win the Solheim Cup in West Demoines, Iowa. Â

2016 - Men's Basketball - Duke and United States National Team head coach
Mike Krzyzewski became the first head coach to lead the U.S. Men's Olympic Team to three gold medals when the USA routed Serbia, 96-66, to cap its run at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Krzyzewski is the first head coach to lead the U.S. to three consecutive Olympic gold medals in men's basketball, having also guided Team USA to the top of podium in 2008 and 2012. As a member of Team USA, Kyrie Irving became the fourth U.S. player to win an Olympic gold medal and an NBA championship in the same year, alongside LeBron James (2012), Michael Jordan (1992) and Scottie Pippen (1992, 1996).
2017 - Women's Basketball - The Blue Devils closed its European Tour to Italy, after visiting Rome, Florence, Siena and Venice.Â
August 23
2008 – Track & Field – Former Duke All-American Shannon Rowbury placed seventh in the women's 1500 meter finals while representing Team USA at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Rowbury clocked in with a time of 4:03.58, and her seventh-place finish was the highest all-time by an American woman in the event.
2009 - Women's Golf - Brittany Lang and the United States quad defeated Europe, 16-12, to win its third straight Solheim Cup.
