DURHAM, N.C. – Following the ACC Challenge over the weekend, sophomores
Samuel Rubell and
Andrew Zhang were declared co-singles champions.

Rubell and Zhang share the title as the two were undefeated (2-0) over the weekend, dominating their opponents from NC State and Virginia Tech in the individualized event co-hosted by Duke and North Carolina.

Beginning with singles action against NC State on Sunday, Rubell cruised past Collin Shick to a 6-0, 6-2 victory while Zhang took down his first ranked opponent of the year, defeating No. 95 Tadas Babelis (7-6 [3], 6-2). The two Blue Devils closed out the ACC Challenge strong as Zhang breezed past Virginia Tech's Jordan Chrysostom (6-1, 6-1) and Rubell beat Ryan Fishback (6-4, 6-3).

Adding to his undefeated weekend, Zhang paired with senior
Edu Güell for doubles action and put together a 3-0 record with two wins against NC State and one versus Virginia Tech, but North Carolina's Simon Soendergaard and Adam Neff were named the doubles champions. Â
