DURHAM, N.C.— The Duke women's basketball program currently features eight Blue Devils currently competing overseas professionally. We take a look at how the former Blue Devils are doing along with their teams.
Elizabeth Williams—Duke '15
Botas, Turkey (10-7)
2020 Highlights: 15.2 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.8 BPG, 5 SPG
Elizabeth Williams has been playing quite well in her first season with Botas in Turkey. The team came up short last week against Izmit, 70-59. However, despite the loss, Williams still managed to put up some good numbers. Williams' registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while also totaling four assists and three blocks. Williams and her team will play one more game in regular season going up against Hatay (7-10) on January 27.
Chelsea Gray—Duke '14
Spar Citylift Girona, Spain (18-2)
2020 Highlights: 10.3 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 3.6 APG, 1.1 SPG
Chelsea Gray is seeing action with Spar Citylift Girona in Spain this year. Gray scored 10 points in a win last week, 85-37, over Al-Qazeres (3-15). It marked Spar Citylift Girona's sixth consecutive win. Spar Citylift Girona is currently third in the Liga Dia. Gray and her team will go up against Valencia (4-4) on January 23.
Jasmine Thomas—Duke '11
Fenerbahce, Turkey (17-0)
2020 Highlights: 12 games, 13.2 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 4.6 APG, 1.6 SPG,
Jasmine Thomas is currently playing in Turkey with Fenerbahce. In her last game with Fenerbahce, Thomas helped to knock off Mersin (11-6), winning, 71-64, in the Turkish KBSL. Thomas played 33 minutes, while collecting nine points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Fenerbahce is a perfect, 17-0, during the regular season. Thomas and her team will play their final game this season January 27, going up against Ormanspor (9-8).
Angela Salvadores—Duke '16
Besiktas, Turkey (7-9)
2020 Highlights: 16 games, 18.1 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 4.8 APG, 1.6 SPG
Angela Salvadores has been solid with Besiktas in Turkey this season. This past week, Salvadores led Besiktas to a . 75-68, win over Cankaya (11-6) in the Turkish KBSL. In the game, Salvadores scored 30 points and pulled down eight rebounds in her 38 minutes of playing time. Salvadores earned the MVP of the game for her efforts. Besiktas is currently eighth in the KBSL. Salvadores and her team will play one more regular season game January 29, going up against Izmit (9-8).
Haley Peters—Duke '14
Villeneuve D'Ascq ESB Lille Metropole, French LFB (6-4)
2020 Highlights: 10 games, 11.4 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 1.6 APG
Haley Peters has been putting up some good stats in her first season with Villeneuve D'Ascq ESB Lile Metropole. Peters helped lead the team to a victory against Bretagne (6-4) winning, 76-69. In Peters' 30 minutes in the game, she notched a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq ESB Lile Metropole is now fourth in the LFB and will go up against BLMA (4-4) on January 30.
Erin Mathias—Duke '18
Empoli, Italian Serie A1 (8-7)
2020 Highlights: 15 games, 12.9 PPG, 8.7 RPG
Mathias has seen action in 15 games this season with Empoli, leading her team to eight wins. Empoli was not able to come out with a win this past week against Schio (13-2) in the Italian Series A1. Mathias scored four points and pulled down six rebounds in 29 minutes. However, Mathias and her team will have another chance on January 24, when it plays Camposbasso (5-9).
Haley Gorecki—Duke '20
Zaragoza, Spanish Liga Dia (7-12)
2020 Highlights: 13 games, 9.0 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 2.5 APG
Haley Gorecki is in her first season of professional basketball with Zaragoza. She is averaging 9.0 points a game and will next play against Promete (7-12) on January 24.
Sofia Roma—Duke '19
Broni, Italian Serie A1 (5-9)
2020 Highlights: 12 games, 3.0 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 0.6 APG
Sofia Roma currently plays center for Broni in Italian Serie A1. This being only her second season playing professionally, she hasn't been able to play as much, but has been a great contribution to the team when she plays. In only getting to play five minutes in the team's last contest against Battipaglia (0-13), Roma was still able score two points and grab a rebound. Roma and her Broni squad will next go up against Venezia (8-8) on January 24.
