DURHAM, N.C. – Saturday marks the first day of the NFL Playoffs and four former Duke letterwinners are in the hunt for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Lucas Patrick (Green Bay Packers), Breon Borders (Tennessee Titans), Ross Cockrell (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Matt Skura (Baltimore Ravens) each helped their respective teams into the NFL Playoffs.
Patrick and the Packers earned a bye for wild card weekend (Jan. 9 & 10) after capturing the NFC North championship and the No. 1 seed in the NFC. During the divisional round (Jan. 16 & 17), the Packers will host the lowest remaining seed on the NFC side.
Cockrell will take the field Saturday with the No. 5 Buccaneers when they travel to No. 4 Washington. That contest is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. and will be carried on NBC. The Bucs come into the contest with an 11-5 mark, while the Washington Football Team brings a 7-9 record into the game.
Finally, Borders and Skura will face off Sunday against each other in a No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup in the AFC. Both teams come in with an 11-5 overall record. Sunday's contest is slated for a 1:05 p.m. kick and will be broadcast on ESPN/ABC.
