DURHAM – The No. 9 Duke men's soccer program (9-2-0, 4-1-0 ACC) have returned home and will welcome No. 23 Clemson (9-3-0, 3-2-0 ACC) to Koskinen Stadium on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., in a battle of division leaders. The contest will be aired live on ACC Network Extra.

The Blue Devils sit in a statistical tie for first place in the ACC Coastal Division, while the Tigers are in a tie with Louisville.Â

Last Time Out
- The Blue Devils saw an end to its six-game win streak, falling in a tight 3-2 decision at No. 13 Pittsburgh.
- Sophomore Thorleifur Ulfarsson scored for the fifth game in a row and has scored in six of seven contests this year. Ulfarsson also assisted on another goal, bringing his season total to nine goals, one assist and 19 points in seven games this season.
- Sophomore Peter Stroud scored his first collegiate goal, set up by Ulfarsson in the 89th minute. The Chester, N.J., native has already set a career high with four points this season and has played a critical role in possession and the counterattack this year.
- Sophomore Lewis McGarvey and freshman Ruben Mesalles registered assists on Ulfarsson's goal. McGarvey remains the lone Blue Devil to start all 11 games this season.
Tale of the Tape
- Clemson heads to Durham in a tie for first place in the Atlantic Division, checking in at 9-3-0 and 3-2-0 in the ACC.
- The Tigers are coming off an ACC loss, falling, 2-0, to Notre Dame on Oct. 9. Both ACC losses have come via a shutout.
- Friday's matchup will mark one of the top ACC goalkeeper showdowns of the season, when Duke senior netminder Eliot Hamill will matchup against Clemson's George Marks. Marks is 8-2-0 with a .788 save percentage, tallying four shutouts.
- On offense, the Tigers are led by Isaiah Reed, who has a team-leading six goals and 12 points. Mohamed Seye also has 10 points on four goals and two assists.
- Head Coach Mike Noonan is in his 12th season with the Tigers and angling to bring the team back to the national championship game, like he did in 2015.
Opponent History
- The Blue Devils and Tigers are set to meet for 60th time, in a series that dates to 1939.
- The two teams have played tight battles since the inception of the series, with Clemson holding a slight 28-26-5 lead.
- Clemson has taken the last five matchups in the series, winning 2-1 in double overtime on Oct. 16, 2020, in the last meeting.
- The two teams have also met in the ACC Tournament on five occasions, with Duke winning two of the five.
What to Watch For
- Duke is hoping to beat Clemson for the first time since Nov. 8, 2013 and defeat the Tigers at home for the first time since Sept. 14, 2012.
- The Blue Devils will look to reach 10 or more wins for the first time since 2018 and do so in the fewest number of games since 2017.
- Duke has had at least one All-ACC honoree in every season since 1976, including every year of head coach John Kerr's tenure.
- Ulfarsson stands alone as the ACC points per game leader, averaging 2.71 per game over seven games.
- Ulfarsson ranks second in the ACC in total goals (9) and total points (19). The Kopavogur, Iceland, native ranks in a tie for eighth in the country in goals.
- Hamill ranks near the top of nearly every major statistic in the country, ranking fifth in the nation in save percentage (0.860), 15th in shutouts (five) and 15th in goals against average (0.654). The Scarsdale, N.Y., native also leads the ACC in save percentage, GAA and saves per game (4.11).
- With five shutouts this season, Hamill is two away from entering a tie for 11th in the single season shutout rankings.
- The Blue Devils rank ninth in the nation in goal differential, outscoring opponents 25-6 over 11 games.
- The Blue Devils have gotten plenty of production from the freshman class, with 21 of the team's 70 points (30%) coming from them. Shakur Mohammed leads the way with eight points, while Felix Barajas has seven, Ruben Mesalles five and Jai Bean one.
- McGarvey has now registered points in back-to-back games for the first time in his collegiate career. The Belfast, Northern Ireland has started every game this season and has jumped into the offense on set pieces in recent games, registering six shots in his last two games after just seven in the previous nine.

Frank Bassett Drive off of Science Drive adjacent to Cohan Fields. There is a $10 charge to park – CASH ONLY. An accessible drop-off and pick-up point for persons with disabilities is also located on Frank Bassett Drive. To access the parking area and the drop-off and pick-up point, guests should communicate with the traffic control officer and lot attendant located at the entrance to Frank Bassett Drive and request accessible parking.
