DURHAM, N.C. – The Blue Devils made the short trek to Raleigh to battle No. 7 NC State on Friday in an ACC dual at Reynolds Coliseum.
Â
Fans will be able to watch the dual as it will be broadcast byÂ
ACC Network Extra. At the conclusion of the dual, there will be additional matches between the two schools. Those extra matches will also be streamed onÂ
ACC Network Extra.
Â
The Blue Devils have faced NC State on 86 occasions prior to Friday with the Wolfpack holding a 64-21-1 mark over the Blue Devils. During the teams' last meeting on Feb. 21, 2020, Duke won three bouts but ultimately dropped a 34-9 decision to NC State.
Â
Redshirt junior and team captainÂ
Josh Finesilver heads into Friday's dual in search of his 46th career win and 17th career dual victory. He shifted to 3-1 last Friday following his 9-2 decision win over Virginia's Denton Spencer and has now accounted for a team-high nine of Duke's 27 dual points this season.
Â
During that matchup with the Cavaliers, the Blue Devils also saw rookiesÂ
Logan Agin andÂ
Conor Becker put up good fights at 125 and 174 pounds, respectively. Agin started things off for Duke battling Patrick McCormick but ultimately dropped a close 4-1 decision. Becker got a couple opportunities against Vic Marcelli but couldn't overcome a fast start by the redshirt sophomore and fell 6-3.
Â
Redshirt juniorÂ
Kaden Russell fended off No. 8 Jay Aiello for much of the 197-pound bout. Unfortunately, the Cleveland, Ohio, native saw Aiello pulled away late for the 6-2 victory.
